The Search for Ancient Crotone
A journey to Magna Grecia
The Greeks colonized Crotone and other parts of southern Calabria from 700 BC and created cities that were as rich and powerful as Athens and Sparta. They remained until they were defeated by succeeding generations of Romans, Carthaginians, Phoenicians and other empires. But, all over Crotone much of ancient Greece remains.
